Overall this is a pretty great tour - the penguins are well worth the visit (and as everyone suggests get the upgrade seating but not the “elite” upgrade). There are several stops, one with a bit of a “zoo” type reserve where you can get up close to devils and koalas etc - this was worth visiting but our guide was on his own schedule so the stopovers were pretty short and everyone felt quite rushed to get back on the bus ( although he kind of disappeared during the stopovers until leaving time). Don’t want to be too harsh on our guide, as he said he had just transitioned to this job, but he had to use gps and still got a little lost; he was accommodating to drop us off at our hotel on the way home but went to the wrong hotel. He had a pretty steady narrative but was a lot of random facts; he shared a lot of “opinions” about Australian culture, history and current social issues that some folks might find off putting - was a bit surprised at this being in the customer service industry. But overall a very good tour, bus seats were ok but not stellar, nice size with about 8-10 people.
We had such a great time on this Phillip Island tour! Frank was a wonderful tour guide - we learned so much and were also free to explore on our own. We had a small group and got to see all the animals. Frank even gave us insider tips about the penguins! You can tell he really cares about the island, the animals, and the guests. 5/5 would definitely do this tour again! Worth every penny.
It was a fantastic experience with our tour leader Fred. From the very first moment Fred was very welcoming and through the whole trip he had lots of fun and energy with a nice voice of a singer. He had a lot of information and experience in this trip and informed us about all interesting points and details in each stop. Before getting to our first stop he shared a lot of interesting stories about the city areas we were passing. We had a quick stop in the Moonlit Sanctuary Wildlife Conservation Park. Then we went to the Philip Island and we visited the little cute penguins which was very interesting. Fred tips helped us to get the most out of visiting Philip Island and have a unique experience in watching penguin parades. On the way back home he showed interesting locations in the city which I consider as a complimentary brief city tour on top of our Phillip Island tour.
