Went on a Popeye cruise on 13/11/21 with my beautiful wife, and we had Devonshire tea on board, the fruit scones with jam and cream were delicious and it bought back memories cruising on the popeye when I was a child back in the late 1980’s. I would like to commend popeye for a fantastic morning cruise thoroughly enjoyed and the staff on board and behind the scenes should be proud for keeping a South Australian icon alive for future generations to enjoy.
Went along with low expectations. However I was really surprised by how excellent it was. The High Tea is possibly a bit misleading - more like a Devonshire tea. The Scones were great though. I was shocked by how much I didn't know about my own city. The tour guide was relaxed and informative and it created a great atmosphere on the boat. I can't wait for some interstate/overseas visitors to take along to show off abrupt beautiful and remarkable part of our city. I hadn't been on Popeye for close to 30 years, I won't be leaving it that long again. Highly recommended and great value for money.
Boat left without us, got text that day saying over booked and made for 2pm we arrived and boat already left down the river by 3mins past no indication about needing to be there 5 -10-15 mins before cruise on my paper... So was surprised it was gone and no reply to messages... Disappointed and wasted petrol traveling 40mins to town paying carpark money and my time.
It was a lovely relaxing trip up the river Torrance . Plenty of space on the Popeye for families to sit. The driver was very informative of the places of interest that we passed. My 8 yr old grandson had never been on a boat and he really enjoyed it. High tea was a very generous portion and lovely fresh coffee . Great trip for all ages.
