The motel is situated in the heart of the city one block away from the post office and a short walk to shops and cafes. It is 100 metres to the rail station, or a short walk to various pubs and clubs, such as the Returned Services League. Matilda Motel is a five minute walk to Moncrieff Theatre, Civic Centre and also the Arts Centre.
The motel has a lovely pool which has a bubbly spa to relax in and enjoy the warm Bundaberg sun after a long journey. The pool area is also where the free barbecue is located with tables and chairs provided.
There is much to see and do in Bundaberg such as visit the famous Bundaberg Rum Distillery, Schmeider's Cooperage and Craft Centre, or Bundaberg Barrel (Bundy's famous brewed ginger beer/soft drinks), the Botanic Gardens are also a special place to visit with the Hinkler House, Historical Museums, Japanese Gardens, Fairymead House Sugar Museum and, the newest addition, the Hinkler Hall of Aviation.
Mon Repos is the nesting and hatching place for the turtles and they are in season November to March, while hatchlings emerge from the eggs January to March.
